Polymer/Materials Engineer

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leads and provides material expertise in the design and development of new products.
Designs and executes test plans to evaluate thermal and electrical properties of polymers and composites.
Provides technical leadership for new product introduction projects.
Identifies resources, develops and executes work plans, schedules and documents work.
Ensures quality and on-time delivery of technical deliverables.
Provides timely response to emergent issues/tasks.
Promotes visibility of work via technical reports, presentations and updating of Project Site (SharePoint).
Provides technical guidance based on analysis and interpretation of data, and engineering judgment.
Initiates and executes technical investigations that may generate a record of invention and/or a new product.
Applies polymer engineering principles for improvement of existing processes or development of new processes.
Operates and maintains an analytical laboratory (TGA, TMA, DSC, FTIR).

Qualifications:

Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Polymer Engineering or related field with at least 3 years of industrial experience.
A PhD degree in Polymer Engineering or related field with a minimum of 1 year experience is preferred.
Hands-on experience working in a laboratory research environment.
Thermal and/or mechanical and/or electrical testing of polymers and composites.
Gathering raw data, performing arithmetic analyses and data reduction (ex. creating tables and graphs, DOE, etc.).
Very good experimental skills; manual dexterity with a delicate touch; excellent observational skills.
Hands-on experience working in a full scale manufacturing environment an asset.
Polymer-powder compounding experience an asset.
Extrusions of polymers including tooling design an asset.
Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
