Abstract

Case studies of injection molding and how it can be used to reduce design and engineering cycles will be presented. The emphasis will be on electronics chip applications. Thermal, thermal-stress, and dynamic (drop test) simulations of different electronics packages will also be included. This presentation will also include aspects on how numerical simulations not only cut development costs but also increase innovation in engineered consumer and electronics products.

Speaker Background

Dr. Metin Ozen is currently operating a high technology consulting firm, Ozen Engineering, Inc.(OEI) performing advanced multi-physics Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Musculoskeletal Simulations for his clients. OEI is an ANSYS & Autodesk Channel Partner. Dr. Metin Ozen received a BS Mechanical Engineering and MS Applied Mechanics degrees from Lehigh University and a PhD from University of Connecticut in Applied Mechanics. Metin brings with him 25+ years of experience in Applied Mechanics. He has provided key technical support, training, and consulting work for ANSYS and CFDRC software in the Bay area. He has taught classes throughout the country on topics such as MEMS, Fracture Mechanics and Fatigue, Ball Grid Arrays (BGA's), Heat Transfer, Dynamics, CFD, Electromagnetics, and Finite Element Methods. In 2001-2002, Dr. Ozen served as the Chair of the Silicon Valley chapter of ASME. He is an ASME Fellow, honoring his contributions to Mechanical Engineering.
