A Solution-Processable Transparent Conductive Material Alternative to ITO

Description:

A Solution-Processable Transparent Conductive Material Alternative to ITO

Teresa Ramos
Manager of Materials Development
Cambrios Technologies

Abstract

Transparent, electrically conductive films play a critical role in enabling many current and emerging opto-electronic applications. These include touch screens, displays, OLED lighting and thin film photovoltaics. Sputtered metal oxides such as indium tin oxide (ITO) have predominantly been the material of choice, however new alternatives are starting to surface. Cambrios Technologies Corporation has developed and commercialized ClearOhmTM coating material, a novel wet-processable suspension of metallic nanowires that can be used to create a high performance transparent electrode. ClearOhmTM coatings can achieve a wide range of sheet resistances from 10-300 ohms/square by a simple adjustment of the coating solution, are highly transparent and have been tailored to be flexible, unlike conventional brittle metal oxides. The use of polymers in the ClearOhmTM layer structure for improved coating and mechanical robustness has been critical to enabling successful commercialization into opto-electronic devices.

Speaker Background

Teresa Ramos serves as Manager of Materials Development at Cambrios Technologies where she is responsible for the development of ClearOhmTM ink and overcoat materials for touch panel, OLED and PV markets. Prior to joining Cambrios she served as Senior Scientist at Vitex Technologies where she was responsible for applications engineering of Flexible GlassTM a plastic barrier substrate. Prior to joining Vitex she served as Vice President of Dielectrics at Nanopore Incorporated and worked at Honeywell Electronic Materials on NanoglassTM, a joint venture between the two companies, where she was responsible for the development and commercialization of porous low k dielectric materials. Ms. Ramos holds over 35 US patents in various electronic material arenas. She received her BS from Eastern New Mexico University in Chemistry and Biology.
