Soft Matter under Osmotic Stress, Prof. Helmut H. Strey, Univ. of Massachusetts, Amherst
Description:
GGPF Dinner Lecture
Thursday, August 17
Prof. Helmut H. Strey
Univ. of Massachusetts, Amherst
Polymer Science and Engineering Department
"Soft Matter under Osmotic Stress"
ABSTRACT:
This talk will introduce the osmotic
stress method as a powerful tool to study the
thermodynamics of self-assembled soft matter systems.
As examples, I will present measurements of
intermolecular forces between DNA molecules,
measurements of chiral interactions between alpha-
helical polypetides and free energy measurements
in polyelectrolyte-surfactant complexes.
